About H.O.P.E. Project
Helping Other People Endure Project or H.O.P.E. Project was originally birthed as a community outreach ministry at New Beginnings Christian Center, now known as New Beginnings in New Orleans, LA. Since it’s founding in 2009, New Beginnings is a ministry that has dedicated itself to community outreach and supplying the basic needs of food and clothing to the citizens of New Orleans. Of particular concern to New Beginnings was the overwhelmingly large number of homeless individuals and impoverished families residing in New Orleans during the years following the devastating flood that resulted from hurricane Katrina.
In 2012 H.O.P.E. Project was established as a non-profit organization separate form New Beginnings, yet continued to serve individuals living in the City of New Orleans by providing hot meals, clean clothing, haircuts and shaves for men, shampoo & styling for women, and personal hygiene care packages; community advocacy in the form of referrals to social services & health fairs and screenings; partnering with Gentilly neighborhood associations in order to sponsor the City’s largest march against crime; hosting women’s empowerment & domestic violence awareness seminars; and most recently an educational initiative, the Mary Johnson Scholarship Fund to assist deserving students from these targeted families meet the costs of a college education.
With regard to our educational initiative, H.O.P.E. Project is proud to congratulate our 2018 Georgia Williams Family Scholarship Recipient, Damon Smith on graduating from LSU-Baton Rouge class of 2021 and his acceptance into Law School at Texas Southern University - Houston.
The H.O.P.E. Project was incorporated as a 501c3 faith-based non-profit organization (EIN 45-5298704) in 2017 and retains its affiliation with New Beginnings, which is located at 6215 Franklin Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70122. Pastor Jabial “Jai” Reed serves as Senior Pastor of New Beginnings and also Executive Director of H.O.P.E. Project.

The Mary Johnson Scholarship Foundation
The Mary Johnson Scholarship Foundation assists deserving college bound students bear the cost of a college education. This Foundation is named in honor of the late Mary Ann Johnson, who was the Spiritual Mother of New Beginnings and also the grandmother of Jai Reed, Pastor of New Beginnings and President of the Board of Directors for HOPE Project. Mary Johnson was affectionately called "Grandma" and she dedicated her life's work toward children and youth. Please donate to the Mary Johnson Scholarship Foundation to help improve the lives of our youth.
The Mary Johnson Foundation's Georgia Williams Family Scholarship is awarded to a college bound student who has show outstanding academic performance and leadership. This scholarship is named in honor of the Late Georgia Williams whose daughter Melaney Williams Batiste is a Founding Member of New Beginnings and Board of Directors member of the HOPE Project.
